UP & VANISHED
SCI-Fi Thriller - Feature Screenplay
Logline: After vanishing while leading a hunting party, ex-Navy SEAL Jack Allan reappears with no memory, sparking wild conspiracies that leave him ostracized - until his girlfriend’s disappearance forces him to unleash his combat skills against the forest’s alien secret.
Overview
Jack Allan is the town’s quiet hero. A former Navy SEAL turned park ranger, he has built his identity on competence and service. When he disappears in broad daylight during an elk hunt, leaving behind only his neatly placed boots, the search effort becomes the largest in the county’s history. Helicopters sweep the ridgelines. Bloodhounds find no scent. Hundreds comb the forest. There are no tracks. No evidence. No explanation.
Then, eleven days later, Jack is found sitting against a granite outcrop that had already been searched repeatedly.
He is alive.
He is physically unharmed.
And he has no memory of where he’s been.
As the town struggles to reconcile the impossible, Jack begins to experience flashes of sterile white corridors, mechanical sentinels, a low, vibrating hum — fragments of something clinical and otherworldly. His behavior grows distant, fractured. The Sheriff believes him. Many do not. Rumors spread. Faith fractures.
When Lucy Carter — the woman Jack loves — vanishes near the same ridge, the town is forced to confront the unthinkable: whatever took Jack is still there. Jack willingly crosses back into the phenomenon, through a portal that exists beyond explanation, and returns with Lucy alive.
She remembers nothing.
He remembers everything.
And in the film’s final moments, a subtle exchange — a wink, a nod — confirms that Jack has seen what lies beyond the veil, and chose to return.
